Below you will find information on these programs. We work with the Virginia Beach SPCA to bring their mobile surgery unit, the Neuter Scooter, to the Shore each month, always on Thursday and\/or Friday. They spay and neuter 20 pets each day. Drop off, at the SPCA in Onley, is 8:00 a.m., with pick-up times after surgery of 1:00 p.m. for dogs and 2:30 p.m. for cats. We are not able to board your pets overnight, so you have to make arrangements for your pet to be picked up on time, please. If you are late for pick-up, there is an additional $50 late charge per pet for each half hour you\u2019re late. The application is provided on this website for your convenience; you can print it, fill out all the information, and mail it along with your payment to guarantee a spot on the next available Clinic Day. Unfortunately, we must receive payment (cash, check or credit card&#8212;which has extra charges) and paperwork before confirming an appointment. After payment is received, we MUST have a 7 day cancellation notice in order to give a free reschedule or a complete refund; if you just do not show up on surgery day, you will not receive a free reschedule or refund. For income qualification, we need to copy the recent year tax form. \u00a0You should use the &#8220;Financial Assistance&#8221; form.<\/p>\n<p>Compare your income to the chart below to see if you qualify based on your income. Fees are listed below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cat<\/strong> (male or female) $135.00 with proof of current rabies vaccine. \u00a0If you need a rabies shot, please add $22.00, to bring the total to $157.00. (Rabies vaccines are MANDATORY)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dog<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0male &#8211; $165.00 or female $175.00 with proof of current rabies vaccine. \u00a0If you need a rabies shot, please add $22.00 to the charges, to bring the total to $177.00 or $197.00, respectively.\u00a0 (Rabies vaccines are MANDATORY)<\/p>\n<p>If your cat is pregnant there will be an additional $20.00 fee on the day of the surgery.<\/p>\n<p>If your dog is in heat (in season), there will be an additional $20.00 fee the day of the surgery; if pregnant the additional fee is $48.<\/p>\n<p>If your dog is between 50-65 lbs., there will be an additional $20.00 fee on the day of surgery.<\/p>\n<p>As an example of the charges listed above: \u00a0Your female dog weighs 60 lbs., needs a rabies shot, and is in season. \u00a0You&#8217;ve already paid the SPCA $197.00 when you made the appointment for the surgery and the rabies shot. You would be charged an additional $40.00 when you pick up your dog because it was over the weight limit, and it&#8217;s in season (heat).<\/p>\n<p><strong>OTHER VACCINES AND TESTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR ADDITIONAL FEES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can purchase yearly vaccines, dewormers, flea prevention, microchip, etc. Heartworm prevention can be purchased if your dog has had a heartworm test within the past 12 months or has this test done at the time of purchase. NO appointment required&#8211;just come to the SPCA from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on a day when the Neuter Scooter is here. The Neuter Scooter does not accept checks for payment.
